Jonathan Gascoigne

Jonathan is Operations and Business Support Manager at Equality Challenge Unit

Jonathan GascoigneBefore joining ECU Jonathan worked at the Charity Commission, advising trustees, staff and beneficiaries of charities spanning all the equality areas, resolving disputes in faith-based charities and latterly managing some of the Commission's most sensitive inquiry cases.

He also has broader experience in the charity and higher education sectors with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Washington International Studies Council.

Jonathan holds a first class honours degree in Politics from the University of Exeter where he specialised in radical political theory and international relations, encompassing the politics of identity and difference. As part of his degree, he spent a year studying racism and nationalism and the anthropology of cultural pluralism at the Jagiellonian University of Cracow on the ERASMUS study abroad programme.

More recently Jonathan took a career break to complete an MSc Social Science Research Methods (Politics and International Relations) at the University of Bristol funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. As well as undergoing formal training in quantitative and qualitative research methods, he conducted research on the gendered discursive construction of the 'anti-globalisation movement'.

Jonathan is particularly interested in exploring the relationship between the equality and diversity of academic staff in higher education and the parameters and paradigms of academic research.

He is a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner.
