Neil is Senior Policy Adviser for sexual orientation and religion and belief at Equality Challenge Unit
Prior to joining ECU Neil worked for HM Prison Service as equality and diversity adviser for HMYOI and RC Glen Parva, the largest young offenders prison in Europe, Within this role Neil led on the mainstreaming of equality practice in all protected characteristics for 800 young offenders and 500 staff, including direct line management of Chaplaincy services.
During his career Neil has worked in a number of organisations both public and voluntary, specialising in work with young people and LGBT equality.
Neil has worked as Director of Leicester LGBT Centre, leading and developing services and policy for LGBT people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as well as working with Leicestershire County Council for seven years developing and delivering young people's engagement work within communities and secondary schools.
Neil studied at De Montfort University Leicester and holds a BA in Social and Community Development and a DipHE in Youth and Community Development.
Neil is also trained in solution focussed therapy with young people.
