How to develop an equality impact assessment
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has emphasised that 'individual public bodies [in England, Scotland and Wales] need to develop their own EIA methodology to fully reflect the precise nature of their business and ensure consistency'. (EHRC, 2009)
HEIs have been required to conduct EIAs for a number of years and staff within your HEI with responsibility for equality and diversity will be able to explain the EIA processes and training already in place.
A number of organisations have produced guidance, materials and template for conducting EIAs that may also be useful:
