Gender equality charter mark
Addressing gender inequalities and imbalance in the arts, humanities and social sciences, in particular the underrepresentation of women in senior roles.
Gender inequalities and imbalances for academic staff in science-related subjects have been the focus of several initiatives, including ECU’s Athena SWAN Charter.
However, there continue to be inequalities in other subject areas which have received less attention, and the underrepresentation of women in senior roles is apparent across academia.
The gender equality charter mark has been developed to address this, and is open to institutions and arts, humanities and social science departments. It covers:
- Professional and support staff
- Academic staff
- Transgender staff
- Men as well as women
- Progression of students into academia
Our charter marks for gender equality are changing: ECU’s Athena SWAN charter and our gender equality charter mark are merging. Find out more and take part in our consultation.
