Bridging the Access Gap conference

This conference, organised by the CACDP, will provide an opportunity to explore issues effecting disabled teachers and students in further and higher education

Bridging the Access Gap will:

  • Examine the experience of deaf learners and understand the barriers to education that they face
  • Identify and measure the skills gap between current provision and QTLS requirements
  • Understand the profile and career intentions of existing deaf teachers, and communication support workers
  • Promote career progression
  • Signpost appropriate professional training
  • Evaluate the current skills levels of those working with BSL in education

  • Jim Edwards - CACDP Chief Executive
  • Kewal Dass - North West Regional Director for Learning and Quality at the Learning & Skills Council
  • Clark Denmark - Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire
  • Andy Owen - Chair of the Association of Communication Support Workers
