Domestic abuse is your business
A free half day conference by the Welsh assembly government and the Equality and Human Rights Commission
Domestic abuse isn't a private matter that stays at home when its victims go to work. 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse and every year it costs businesses £2.7 billion in lost economic output across the UK. It can lead to decreased productivity, absenteeism and increased employee turnover.
Outline of the morning
This will be an opportunity to hear about effective practice from a number of different perspectives.
Speakers include:
- Ann Benyon OBE, EHRC commissioner and director of BT Wales
- Stuart McKenna, diversity manager for the Co-operative Group
- Karin Philips, deputy director, community safety division, Welsh assembly government
You will see how early intervention and taking a number of small practical steps can reduce sickness absence, save money and save lives.
