Equality Act 2010 seminar: Cardiff
Free, practical sessions to prepare higher education institutions for the Equality Act
The Equality Act 2010 consolidates and streamlines current anti-discrimination legislation. It also introduces new measures that will have direct implications for higher education institutions.
ECU's free, practical seminars have been developed to prepare institutions for October when the main sections of the Act - relating to employment, equal pay, service delivery, public functions and education (further and higher) - are expected to come into effect. The programme has been tailored for equality and diversity practitioners, human resources, student services and those with responsibility for equality and diversity within higher education institutions.
Programme overview
The programme will provide an overview of the Equality Act 2010, the expected timeline for implementation and the general implications for higher education institutions.
Following a brief overview of the proposed public sector equality duty and the potential implications of the specific duties, the seminar will turn to look at the employment implications for institutions, and then move on to focus on student issues.
Throughout the seminars delegates will be able to discuss best practice, what their institution is already doing in this area and how to develop appropriate responses to the new legislation.
When booking a place, delegates will have the opportunity to identify any specific areas that they would like to see covered by the seminar programme. Alternatively, please contact Chris Brill with your ideas.
