A UCAS conference for 2010: contemporary approaches to fair recruitment and retention

This conference, aimed at vice-chancellors, pro vice-chancellors, and those involved in widening participation and admissions, will explore practical ways to put equality and diversity at the heart of higher education institutions.

Delegates will be challenged to re-frame their thinking about equality and diversity, so that the work carried out in universities reflects the changes in people's lives over the last decades. The conference will open up discussion of new ways of working to tackle inequality and foster diversity in higher education.

Speakers include:

  • Simon Fanshawe, writer, broadcaster and chair of the university council, University of Sussex
  • David Ruebain, chief executive, Equality Challenge Unit
