Equality, diversity and multi-faith: challenges for higher education
This timely one-day conference from AMOSSHE will explore the issues of faith in higher education from a student support perspective.
This Multi-faith Knowledge Community workshop is part of a year-long project looking at supporting students around issues of faith in higher education from a student support perspective. It continues the work of the Knowledge Community's online forum held in 2010 and further addresses current issues facing student services.
As with the online forum, this workshop is an opportunity to discuss, share best practice and knowledge, and explore issues facing universities around faith provision and how to support our students of faith and none.
The aim is to develop a toolkit for student service bringing together case studies, best practice and real, practical ideas for providers of services to students for the sector in these challenging times.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Liz Bromley, director of student life, University of Salford and AMOSSHE (vice-chair, operations)
- David Knowles, prevent delivery unit, Association of Chief of Police Officers
- John Tatam, interim executive director, Institute of Community Cohesion
- Tara Leach, student wellbeing project manager, University of Salford
- Yusuf Kaplan, interfaith adviser, University of Westminster

Participants will:

- share best practice around supporting students of faith in the current higher education climate
- have an opportunity to contribute to and influence development of a faith in higher education toolkit
- have an opportunity to contribute to the consolidation of potential further development of Knowledge Community in the sector
