Action on evidence: the experiences of LGBT staff and students in higher education

Launching the findings of research into the experiences of over 4000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff and students in higher education and giving delegates the opportunity to shape the direction of future ECU work based on the research

Over 4000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) staff and students have participated in the research into Lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans staff and students in higher education which, in a first for higher education, will provide empirical and robust evidence on the barriers and issues specifically affecting LGBT employees and learners. The conference will provide an opportunity for delegates to consider the most appropriate steps to now be taken in supporting LGBT equality in higher education.

The conference will:

  • consider the findings of this innovative and ground breaking research
  • develop the narrative for making diversity and sexual orientation work in your institution
  • identify the key messages from the research that should be taken forward in projects by ECU and the sector
  • give networking opportunities with equality and diversity officers and senior figures from within the HE sector.Speakers include
