National and local expert speakers address the issues surrounding the future of equality and diversity within our communities and organisations. The conference includes interactive workshops and an afternoon question time debate

 Speakers include

  • Dr Abdul Bari MBE – Secretary General, Muslim Council of Britain
  • Bob Niven CBE – Former Chief Executive of the Disability Rights Commission and government adviser on disability rights and employment
  • Karen Chouhan – A woman honoured in 2008 with a ‘Woman Warrior – Trailblazer Award’ from Rev Jess Jackson at the Rainbow Push New York Summit and she was a guest at the Obama Victory Celebrations in Grant Park, Chicago
  • Ben Summerskill – Chief Executive, Stonewall
  • Bernard Hogan-Howe – Chief Constable of Merseyside Police
  • Dr Lewis Turner – Vice-President, Press for Change
  • Councillor Stephen Rotherham – The Lord Mayor of Liverpool

ECU workshop

The conference will also include a workshop presented by Stuart Moore, from ECU's Disability Team, on the theme 'Disability equality: beyond compliance'.
