Making it happen: finding solutions for tackling barriers to promotion for staff in higher education
This conference is aimed at senior leaders and practitioners who have a responsibility to promote staff in higher education
There is a growing body of evidence that staff from under-represented groups are less likely to be promoted in higher education in the UK. In spite of this evidence and various positive action initiatives, the 'complexion' at senior levels in higher education has not changed significantly in the last ten years. SOAS, the Institute of Education and the University of Oxford in collaboration with Schneider-Ross have looked at not just the barriers but also at what the possible solutions are - the two or three actions that will make a real difference.
This event is aimed at demystifying some of the myths that have been around for more that two decades, providing the opportunity for some dynamic conversations on how universities can move forward and achieve what appears impossible, as well as drawing on the expertise of practitioners and leading thinkers.
