An event for working women and trade union activists who want to explore how women's working lives can be improved

This is a free event aimed at working women, union activists and reps, employers or agencies/organisations who want to explore how women's working lives can be improved. The event will feature workshops looking at the barriers women face in the workplace and will take a positive approach to help women look at what works and what tools they can use to achieve equality at work.  Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

This conference will use positive messages to help women look at what works and what tools they can use to help them achieve equality at work.

Speakers include

  • Sarah Veale, the Head of the TUC's Equalities and Equal Rights Department, who will open the conference and will focus on what actually happens at work - how women have used the law, negotiation skills or learning to get a better deal in the UK or elsewhere.
  • Richard Exell, TUC Economy and Social Affairs Senior Policy Officer, who will talking about the effects of poverty on women
  • Jackie Longworth, Chair South West TUC Women's Committee
  • Marie Hughes, TUC Regional Education Officer
