Advancing equality and diversity in universities and colleges

Petroc

Pathways to apprenticeships

Keywords: Apprenticeships and training, Disability

Region: South West region

Aims

The project aimed to widen access to apprenticeships and traineeships for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) through analysing, embedding, expanding and spreading good practice in delivering supported internships and progression pathways.

Outcomes

The project resulted in tangible changes to curriculum content and related qualifications to improve confidence and employability of students progressing from Petroc.

It has also improved employer engagement and raised awareness of supported internships.

The long term goal for this work is to increase the number of successful supported interns accessing a wider variety of opportunities. This will be measured year on year with the expectations that each year will see a higher number of successful interns represented in a wider range of industries.
