Promoting good campus relations: an institutional imperative

Related subject: | |

A higher education campus is a places where all staff and students have a right to work, study and live without fear of intimidation, harassment and threatening or violent behaviour

ECU has produced Promoting good campus relations – an institutional imperative. This document updates and should be read in conjunction with the Universities UK/GuildHE/ECU 2005 publication Promoting good campus relations: dealing with hate crimes and intolerance. It is also rooted in the principles provided in an earlier ECU publication Employing people in higher education: religion and belief.

The update has been produced in response to requests from higher education institutions. It provides concise, practical guidance on appropriate action where there is a likelihood of activity that threatens to undermine the safety and freedoms of staff and students on campus, and outlines ways to ensure campus harmony. In response to demand from the sector, this update has a particular focus on religious and racial intolerance.
