Sexual orientation

ECU has produced specialised guidance for the sector, Advancing LGB equality, that includes a range of practical steps that institutions can take to promote sexual orientation equality.

The guidance features many examples of effective practice that are taking place. It includes advice on how to tackle homophobic behaviour on campus and in student accommodation, how to provide support for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff and considerations for monitoring the sexual orientation of staff and students. A range of further resources are also listed in the guidance.

The advice offered is intended to help institutions manage the major issues revealed in 2009 by the ECU research, The experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans staff and students in higher education.
