The Athena SWAN Charter is a driver for organisational cultural change. The University of Kent is proud to have Athena SWAN Bronze University-level accreditation and six School Bronze accreditations. The goal of the project is that by 2020 the University will have achieved a Silver institutional award and, in line with the overall University Plan 2015-2020, that all Science schools will have achieved a Silver award and all other schools will have achieved Bronze.

The primary purpose of the post of Athena SWAN Project Manager will be to manage the implementation, continued development and embedding of the Athena SWAN Charter and its principles across the University. The immediate priority will be to manage the submission of a University-level bronze application by the end of November 2017 and then to support schools in achieving their awards in line with the overall University Plan, whilst also ensuring sufficient progress is made on the University-level action plan in order to support a Silver submission by 2020.

As Athena SWAN Project Manager you will:

  • establish and run Kent’s Athena SWAN activities as a University-wide strategic project to meet the goals set in the University Plan 2015-2020
  • ensure the University-level Athena SWAN applications and associated action plans are agreed with all relevant parties, submitted on time, to the required quality standard and are consistent with the overall University strategic plan and objectives

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • detailed knowledge of Athena SWAN
  • experience of successfully leading the achievement of a recognised accreditation, such as Investors in People
  • experience of successfully managing an organisation-wide strategic project
  • experience of managing a project with multiple and inter-related sub projects
