Government Equalities Office consultation on the public sector Equality Duty

The Government Equalities Office (GEO) consultation Promoting Equality through Transparency sets out government proposals for the specific duties which will underpin the new public sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010.

The consultation closed on 10 November 2010.

These proposals cover England and some cross-border agencies. The Scottish government, and the Welsh Assembly government are undertaking separate consultations on the specific duties that will apply for Scottish and Welsh higher education institutions. ECU will be responding to these consultations separately.

ECU submission

Following input from the sector, ECU has made a formal submission to the consultation, from our perspective of an organisation concerned with advancing equality for individuals in higher education:

Many thanks to the institutions and individuals who commented on our draft response.
