Equality Bill: Welsh Assembly consultations

Related subject:

Welsh Assembly consultations on proposed public sector duties

Public sector duties affecting Welsh higher education institutions will be drawn up the Welsh Assembly government.

Listening exercise

The Welsh Assembly government undertook a 'listening exercise' with key stakeholders to develop proposals for the specific equality duties that will apply in Wales.

The listening exercise closed on 16 November 2009.

Public consultation

Detailed proposals for public sector duties are due to be published by the Assembly in 2010. These are expected to be open to a full public consultation in the summer.

ECU will circulate details as soon as the proposals are published.

Response to the consultations

ECU submitted a response to the Listening exercise, which can be downloaded below.

ECU will also respond to the forthcoming public consultation.

Comments and issues raised by Welsh HEIs at a specific Welsh consultation event on the Equality Bill in Swansea will directly inform ECU's responses on behalf of the Welsh higher education sector. We will also be inviting institutions to share further comments via email when the proposals are published.

Institutions are welcome to use our submissions to inform any individual responses that they may wish to make.
