Terms of reference

The HELEN will have the following terms of reference, which will be reviewed annually

  1. Primarily to provide a forum for peer support, including
    • sharing practice and policy development across HEIs
    • sharing (anonymised) data on student and staff cohorts for comparison and benchmarking purposes and information about institutional data monitoring processes
    • sharing knowledge on “how to…” (e.g. how to manage your manager; how to get leaders within your organisation on board)
    • sharing relevant and important information (e.g. from national reports)
    • consultation with peers on relevant issues
    • consideration of sharing internal resources (e.g. specialist staff or other resources) when appropriate
    • providing advice and support on difficult issues.
  2. To provide opportunities for Continuing Professional Development for members including:
    • Opportunities to discuss relevant topics
    • Presentations by members / invited others
  3. To consult with one another & campaign on relevant issues (e.g. by the Chairperson writing on behalf of HELEN members to the appropriate government office(s) to raise a specific issue).
  4. To consider other ways in which London’s HE Diversity Advisors might work together.
