Equality handbooks for governors

Handbooks for governors of institutions in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

handbook-for-english-governors-smallGovernors have an integral part to play in supporting equality and diversity in your institution as part of pursuing the institutional mission and strategy, in providing legal assurance, and in helping to build a diverse and representative governing body.

We have produced four new handbooks written for governors of institutions in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The handbooks provide practical guidance for governors on:

  • Equality and diversity in institutional mission, strategy and culture
  • Governors’ legal assurance role, including an overview of equality law and mechanisms governors can use to seek assurance
  • Governing body diversity, including the benefits of a diverse governing body, current challenges and effective approaches to increasing diversity

They will prove helpful as induction material for your new governors, as well as a training and development resource for your existing governors.
