Consultancy guidelines for ECU subscribers
Consultancy is provided for all subscribing institutions to ECU. Subscribers should use the online form to book their consultancy. Any queries can be discussed with your account manager.
Consultancy entitlement guidelines – hours per institution
Please note that consultancy requires up to two days’ worth of preparation to ensure a bespoke session for your institution, as well as travel to and from the requested venue. To ensure a consistent service for all of our subscribers, the following guidelines have been set for free consultancy:
Free consultancy is classified as one session between three and four hours, for up to 25 people.
Due to the extensive preparation of consultancy, packages cannot be split over more than one day. Additional consultancy will be treated as a bespoke service*.
For institutions that would like to repeat a consultancy session (for example if there are more than 25 people who require such training), this would also be classed as a bespoke service*
Examples of consultancy support
Below are some examples of how your consultancy can be used:
- delivery of any of our standard training, such as our programme on unconscious bias or good relations, for up to 25 people
- input into a committee meeting, working group on specific issues or into annual planning on equality objectives
- facilitated sessions on equality and diversity (for example with governors, or with equality champions)
- presentations on equality issues in the HE sector
- research support (e.g. a focus group to help develop better qualitative data for the HEI)
Our ability to fulfil your request will be based on availability and ECU expertise. Please note the chief executive would not normally deliver consultancy.
Subscribers should use the online booking form to arrange consultancy delivery. All requests for consultancy should be made via the person you have told us is your primary equality contact. The ECU team will contact you if clarification is required.
Consultancy request deadlines
It is vital that institutions request 2017 consultancy by no later than July 2017 to ensure that visits can be planned and resourced well in advance. Institutions requesting consultancy after this deadline will be at risk of losing their free consultancy unless in exceptional circumstances.
Please note: we require a minimum of 21 days’ notice from receipt of the request to delivery. Institutions should be aware that consultancy packages come on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
Please specify which option you wish to take when completing the online form. We will require specific detail of the consultancy a minimum of ten days before your confirmed date. This will ensure that your consultancy package is tailored to your specific needs.
If the subscriber cancels the consultancy session, ECU will endeavour to rearrange it. However, due to forward planning and resourcing requirements, institutions may be at risk of losing their free consultancy if they cancel within 1 month of the agreed consultancy session. Consultancy sessions cancelled within two months of the end of a calendar year, will not be able to be rearranged.
Institutions that cancel consultancy sessions and wish to rearrange, may be required to pay the cost of any rearranged travel.
