Should we monitor sexual orientation?

ECU encourages higher education institutions to monitor sexual orientation of their staff and students if they have provided a safe environment in which to disclose. ECU recommends involving staff network groups and unions in developing any process to monitor sexual orientation.

Institutions will need to have robust and confidential mechanisms to record the information.
