Identifying and disseminating best practice for apprentices with SEN

This project focused on raising the profile of equality issues within apprenticeship provision. The project aimed to deliver significant benefits for SEN learners accessing vocational apprenticeship training pathways through rolling out a best practice model to employers and providers across Oxfordshire.


This project has:

  • Identified best practice for apprentices with SEN and disseminated this best practice through the production of ‘How to’ guides for training providers and a film for employers, training providers and learners
  • Delivered a successful apprenticeship programme for SEN learners therefore demonstrating that it is possible to maintain the standards of an apprenticeship framework whilst working with SEN learners

It is hoped that this information and know how will increase the number of apprenticeships available to SEN learners in the region and nationally.
