Athena SWAN welcomes three more award winners
Additional winners announced
Three additional Athena SWAN award winners have been announced today. The Athena SWAN awards recognise higher education institutions and departments that support and advance women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medical academia.
Two successful winners received Bronze department awards:
- WMG, University of Warwick
- Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde
The Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, was successful in renewing their Silver department award, first gained in May 2010.
Sarah Dickinson, Athena SWAN manager at Equality Challenge Unit said:
‘We are delighted to welcome the two new bronze winners to the growing number of departments who are making progress on gender equality and women’s careers.
Congratulations also to the Department of Physics at Cambridge. Successful renewal of an award at this level involves continued and sustained advances within employment practices and the working and learning environment. Cambridge’s Physics department have a clear commitment to continuous improvement, and show the standard of progress other award holders seeking renewal should be aiming for.’
