Held on 26 April in Glasgow, this conference explored topics related to governance and leadership of equality, staff equality and student equality. Highlights from the event included presentations from the Yvonne Strachan of the Scottish Government, Professor Peter Hopkins of Newcastle University, Tanya Castell of Changing the Chemistry and Dr Maxine Room CBE, as well as a broad range of workshops delivered by institutions.

The conference took place as part of the wider work programme ECU is delivering for Scottish colleges and universities over 2016-2018, supporting them drive equality forward.

Freya Douglas, ECU programme manager for Scotland said

It was a pleasure to see colleges and universities come together to share practice on their approaches to advance equality.

This is the first national Scottish conference that we have run bringing colleges and universities together. The examples presented on the innovative and determined efforts being made by institutions is testament to the commitment of the sectors to improve the experience and outcomes for all their staff and students.

ECU’s UK wide conference will be held on 29-30 November, further details are available here.
