ECU’s Ellen Pugh joins national equality advisory panel
Ellen Pugh has joined the eight member Equality and Diversity Advisory Panel after being nominated on behalf of UK higher education funding bodies.
Ellen Pugh, Policy Programme Manager at Equality Challenge Unit, is now a member of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) Equality and Diversity Advisory Panel (EDAP).
Ellen’s membership of the EDAP is as a result of her being nominated on behalf of all UK higher education funding bodies.
EDAP is made up of eight members who represent a range of higher education institutions from around the UK. Nominations were sought for individuals with expertise in equality and diversity issues affecting research careers or with experience in research leadership and management.
The REF is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. It is a peer review assessment process involving senior UK academics, users of research from organisations beyond higher education and international advisers. The results of the REF are used to drive the UK higher education funding bodies’ annual distribution of research funding to UK universities.
