ECU welcomes name-blind trial

UCAS, the university admissions service, has published the results of a review into potential unconscious bias in university admissions systems. UCAS has been investigating whether applications can be submitted anonymously to reduce the possibility of bias in admissions.

ECU welcomes the report, and the recommendation to set up a trial of ‘name-blind’ university admissions with a number of higher education institutions.

We have been working with the sector to reduce unconscious bias in all areas by providing research, advice and training. We look forward to continuing that support and working with UCAS and SPA to ensure university admissions are fair and equitable for all.
