Achieving trans inclusivity in higher education
ECU’s equality and diversity awareness programme is designed to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to deal effectively with a range of equality and diversity issues in the workplace.
This session is designed for universities (or departments or teams within universities) that wish to better understand the equality challenges for trans staff and students that exist within higher education in the UK.
On the day
Based on ECU’s 2016 guidance on trans inclusivity this training aims to support institutions in implementing non-discriminatory policies, supporting trans students and staff, and creating an inclusive culture. The workshop explores the context for trans identities, (including the legislation around the rights and responsibilities around trans identities, and key terms and use of language), and the practical steps an individual and an institution can take to foster an inclusive environment for trans students and staff.
The maximum number of participants for this session is 25.
