From SMART actions to impact

This session is for universities or departments aiming for silver awards.

This workshop is for universities and departments across the UK aiming for Athena SWAN Silver awards. The workshop aims to give attendees a clear understanding of how to create SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) actions which underpin their efforts toward achieving Silver awards.

The workshop will also address plans for monitoring and evaluating actions that lead to evidenced impact. Attendees will be encouraged to reflect on their own action plans, with a view to understanding how to build upon these to demonstrate impact in the future.

The workshop will include:

  • insights from applicants who have been successful in achieving silver departmental or university awards
  • group exercises including SMART action planning and evaluation for impact

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from ECU staff as well as from applicants who have successfully achieved silver status. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions relating directly to your institution, plan your institution’s future work and to network and share ideas with other HEIs.

The single-day workshops will be held in London, Birmingham and Manchester  in March and September from 11.00am until 4.00pm, with registration from 10.30am. This will be a group consultancy event for subscribing institutions and Scottish and Welsh HEIs participating in the charters. This event can be booked alongside the ‘Engaging with the post-May Athena SWAN’ workshop. Three representatives are invited to attend both workshops free of charge as part of their 2018 consultancy option. 30 places are available.

Institutions that have already claimed their 2018 consultancy can contact ECU to purchase a limited number of options for a fee, dependent on availability, and can contact the ECU office at ecu@ecu.ac.uk to find out more.
